Helen A. Grendzinski, of Wilkes-Barre, passed away Friday, June 17, 2022, at her home. Born August 21, 1949, in Winston-Salem, NC, she was a daughter of the late Al and Helen Tucker Thompson.Helen attended schools in Winston-Salem and received her Associates Degree in Medical Transcription from Luzerne County Community College.
She was employed at Nesbitt Hospital, Tenenbaum Travel Agency, and the Woodland Inn and Resort. Helen enjoyed needle point and was an avid reader of historic romance novels. She loved Ocean City, MD, and traveling with her loving husband on cruises to Bermuda.She was preceded in death by her siblings, Tobie and Obie. Surviving is her husband, Richard, with whom she was married 54 years on October 21st; son, Richard Jr. of Seattle, WA; daughter, Barbara Staley and her husband, Robert Staley Jr. of Wilkes-Barre; grandchildren, Brandon Gawelko of Wilkes-Barre, and Kyle Staley of Wilkes-Barre; and her cat, Teddy.
Memorial services will be held Wednesday, June 29th, from 4:00 to 6:00pm at the Jendrzejewski Funeral Home, 21 North Meade Street, Wilkes-Barre.The Family would like to thank Erwine Home Health and Hospice, especially Joice, Macy, DeeAnn, and Chelsea for their continued love and support during Helen's long illness. She truly enjoyed their visits. In lieu of flowers a donation to the S.P.C.A or any Cancer Foundation of choice is asked.
