Roberta S. Grish, of Wilkes-Barre, passed away Monday, Jan. 31, 2022, in Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center with family by her side.
Born June 30, 1939, in Wilkes-Barre, she was a daughter of the late Elias and Stephanie Kumor Moses.
Roberta attended GAR High School, Wilkes-Barre. She was employed for many years in the area dress companies and later waitressed at Jimeal's, Genetti's and Dente's Restaurants.
Roberta was a member of St. Mary's Antiochian Church, Wilkes-Barre, and the International Ladies' Garment Workers' Union.
Berti formerly bowled on leagues at Stanton Lanes, Wilkes-Barre, and she enjoyed tending to her yard work.
Many of you may remember her as a stern no-nonsense person, but Berti was a wife, sister, sister-in-law, friend, aunt, great-aunt, great-great aunt and a mother/grandmother like figure. She was dependable, reliable, honest, tell you like it is person who will be deeply missed.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Abraham Moses and his wife, Antionette; sister, Louise Kocher and her husband, Ronald; godson, William Moses; and brother-in-law, Larry Savokinas.
Surviving are her husband, John, with whom she was married 39 years on Sept. 30; sister, Deane Savokinas, California; sister-in-law, Joan McSween, Plymouth. She also leaves behind generations of nieces and nephews
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday in St. Mary's Antiochian Church, 905 S. Main St., Wilkes-Barre. Friends may call from 9 a.m. until the time of services Saturday in the church and from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday at the Jendrzejewski Funeral Home, 21 N. Meade St., Wilkes-Barre.
Memorial donations in Roberta's name may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or to the American Cancer Society.
