Teresa M. Riley, 95, of Wilkes-Barre, passed away Wednesday, October 5, 2022, at Allied Services Center City, Wilkes-Barre. Born December 31, 1926, in Hazleton, PA, she was the daughter of the late Daniel and Mary Hayden Stone.
Teresa was a 1944 graduate of St. Gabriel's High School, Hazleton, and a 1948 graduate of the Mercy Hospital School of Nursing. Teresa served during World War II in the United States Cadet Nurse Corps for 3 years.
She was employed as a nurse at Mercy Hospital, Wilkes-Barre, for 35 years. A devoted Catholic, Teresa was a former member of St. Andre Bessette Parish Community, Wilkes-Barre. She loved her family and spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Riley Sr. on January 10, 2005; son, Thomas; and sister, Dorothy Connell.
Surviving is her sons, Richard Riley and his wife, Janet of Largo, FL, Joseph Riley Jr. and his wife, Trisha of Wilkes-Barre Township, and Michael Riley and his wife, Robin of Bunker Hill, IN; daughters, Maureen Longfoot and her husband, David of Kingston, and Kathleen Riley and her companion, David Breese of Laurel Run; grandchildren, Erin, Peter, Joseph III, Jamie, Michael, Ryan, Sarah, Matthew, Kristen, Shawn, Brian, Erik, Brittany, Ruth, Rachel, and Jacob; and numerous great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at 10:00am from the Jendrzejewski Funeral Home, 21 North Meade Street, Wilkes-Barre, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30am in St. Nicholas Church, 226 South Washington Street, Wilkes-Barre. The Reverend Mark DeCelles will be Celebrant. Interment with Military Honors will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Hanover Township. Family and friends may attend visitation on Thursday morning from 9:00am until the time of services.
