Patricia Cordisco (nee Bobeck)

Patricia Cordisco (nee Bobeck) passed away peacefully on October 14, 2023. She was a beloved wife, mother, Babci, Cioci, and sister. Pat was born To Hedwig and Walter Bobeck on January 12, 1940. She was raised in Edwardsville, PA and graduated from Edwardsville High School. She married Larry Cordisco and raised her two daughters, Kim and Leanne, in Wilkes-Barre.

Pat was very detail-oriented and a talented seamstress. When Kim got engaged, Pat and Kim spent months sewing every stitch, bead, and sequin of the wedding gown. Pat turned her love for sewing into her own tailoring business that she operated for decades. Her sense of humor was evident to her clients when she tickled their feet while adjusting their pant lengths. Pat taught her granddaughter, Renee, how to sew.

Pat, never Patty, loved travel, cooking, cards, and reading. With the profits from her business she travelled widely across the US with her family and friends, always finding an occasion to enjoy some seafood along the way.  Seafood, especially crabs, were favorites of hers; and her recipe book was jammed with dozens of crab recipes. Pat's version of she crab soup was always a special treat. Back in the 70's, Pat got her first propane grill using S&H green stamps and never looked back. Her rotisserie chicken was legendary, and was often enjoyed with a margherita. Savannah, Georgia was one of her special places. She also cherished time in New England with her brother Walt's family, and spending time on the beach with her grandchildren searching for sea glass.

Pat was a life-long reader with a near photographic memory. Her favorites were historical fiction, but there weren't many genres she didn't enjoy. Her voracious reading and great memory made her unbeatable at Jeopardy.

Pat's competitive side came out when playing cards and Scrabble. Whether single or playing with a partner, she always played to win. Many nights were spent at the kitchen table with family and friends, playing pitch, pinochle, and poker for pennies and nickels. She kept her poker winnings in a large ceramic crock pot in her kitchen. After an especially good hand she would ring a string of bells that were a wedding present from her husband, Larry. Scrabble was a bloodsport to Pat. Because of her voracious reading and excellent memory, words came easily to her. Some of her happiest times were Scrabble-a-thons with her sister, Chrissy.

Pat had 4 siblings, Walter, Dan, Christine, Betty, and 2 grandchildren, Nicholas and Renee. She is survived by her children, grandchildren, and siblings Betty and Walter.
