John L. Kashuba, of Wilkes-Barre, passed away Thursday, February 3, 2022, at Allied Hospice Center, Wilkes-Barre. Born April 6, 1927, in Eynon, PA, he was the son of the late Charles and Urshula Giberka Kashuba. Raised in Plains, he was a 1944 graduate of Plains High School. John was a miner for 21 years and then worked at Metropolitan Wire until he retired.
He was a member of Holy Trinity Church, Wilkes-Barre, and its Holy Name Society, and the Lithuanian Club, Wilkes-Barre Township. John lived at 389 S. Empire Street most of his married life and loved sitting on his porch enjoying the mountain view and chatting with neighbors, and weekends in Mehoopany where he had many friends.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing Lake Carey and the Susquehanna River in Mehoopany. John loved bowling with Hanover Nursery on several leagues, playing cards, gardening, and traveling with his wife.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ramona (Konsavage) in 2012; brother, Charles; and infant sister, Margaret. John loved his wife and missed her dearly, now they are reunited.
Surviving is his daughters, Susan Krolick and her husband, Ted, of Wilkes-Barre, and Joan Marczak and her husband, Joseph of Hanover Township; grandchildren, Christina Francisco of Wilkes-Barre, Kendra Krolick of Wilkes-Barre, John Marczak of Nanticoke, Janine Marczak of Washington D.C.; 2 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday at 10:00am at St. Andrew Parish, 316 Parrish Street, Wilkes-Barre, the Reverend Joseph Kearney will be Celebrant. Interment will be private in Holy Trinity Cemetery, Bear Creek. Family and friends may call Tuesday morning at the church from 9:00am until time of Mass.
