John L. Etter Sr., of Wilkes-Barre, passed away Friday, September 20, 2024, at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.
Born July 6, 1949, in Wilkes-Barre, he was the son of the late John and Gladys Robert Etter.
Jack was a 1967 graduate of E.L. Meyers High School, Wilkes-Barre.
He was employed by the Wilkes-Barre Area School District as a Nutritionist and Custodian.
John was a devoted Catholic and member of Our Lady of Fatima Parish at St. Mary's Church of the Immaculate Conception, Wilkes-Barre.
He was a 4th Degree Knight with the Knights of Columbus Council 302, Wilkes-Barre; the American Legion SALS; and V.F.W. Auxillary, Plymouth.
Jack loved to sing karaoke and volunteering his time coaching the Heights Little League and Heights Packers.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Shirley Pivinski.
Surviving is his wife, the former Sharon Amann, with whom he has been together with for 25 years; son, John Etter Jr. of Wilkes-Barre; step-sons, Joseph Amann of Wilkes-Barre, and Scott Amann and his wife, Alex of Plymouth; step-daughters, Currissa Gallucci of Wilkes-Barre, and Jennifer Richards and her husband, Matthew of Dallas, PA; grandsons, Daniel Crise, Peter Gallucci IV, Gabriel Amann, and Johnathon Crise Jr.; sister, Jane Deschak of Wilkes-Barre; and nieces and nephews, Steve Pivinski, Brian Etter, and Alissa O'Brien.
A Celebration of Life service will be held Saturday from 10:00am until 12:00pm at the Jendrzejewski Funeral Home, 21 North Meade Street. Wilkes-Barre, PA 18702.
Jack's family would like to thank the staff at the Frank M. and Dorothea Henry Cancer Center at Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center for their care and comfort during his stay.
