Ada Scorey

Ada Weber Scorey, 81, a longtime resident of the Heights section of Wilkes-Barre, passed away on Monday, Aug. 26, 2024.

Born Feb. 15, 1943, she was the daughter of the late Ernest and Elizabeth Weber. She was a graduate of GAR Memorial High School. Years ago, Ada worked long hours at Carter Footwear to support her three children. She then went on to work at the Institute for Human Resources until retirement.

Ada loved taking care of the many ladies at homes in Wilkes-Barre and Swoyersville.

Ada enjoyed spending time with her five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Her hobbies included watching Hallmark and Lifetime movies, playing lottery scratch offs, reading, dancing at the Silver Queen, going to the casino with her sister and spending over 40 years with her many friends on Sylvanus Street. Ada loved celebrating her birthday and would remind you her special day was coming months early along with never giving up her true age.

Due to health reasons, she moved to New York to live with her daughter and family in the summer of 2022. They took wonderful care of her and she had many happy memories with them. Thank you Deb, Jerry, Pop Pop, Keith, Stephanie and Norah.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her former husband, Robert J. Scorey Sr.; son, Robert J. Scorey Jr.; and sister, Grace Suda.

Surviving are her daughter, Deborah and her husband, Jerry Weiser; son, Jimmy and his wife, Jeannie Scorey; daughter-in-law, Andrea Scorey; grandchildren, Bobby (Nicole), Keith, Briana, Kelsey and Lindsey; great-grandchildren, Benjamin, Isabella, Mason and Addison; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

Viewing will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. Friday at Jendrzejewski Funeral Home.

A special thank you to the many loved ones who took great care of Ada over the years: Greg Gonos (along with his late parents/grandparents), Arthur, Shameeza, Joanne Mutter, the late Joe Yen and the late Bill and Joan Boston Scorey.

In lieu of flowers, please think of our Mom Ada with a smile and do a kind deed for someone in her name.

Mom you did your final check before leaving your earthly home ... "oven off - check," "lights off - check."

We will love you and miss you always. We were so blessed to have you.
