Theresa "Tessie" Stackonis

Theresa "Tessie" Stackonis, of Wilkes-Barre, passed away Sunday, February 4, 2024 at Allied Services Nursing, Wilkes-Barre. Born March 2, 1943, in Wilkes-Barre, she was the daughter of the late Anthony and Irene Halicki Hando.

Tessie was a 1960 graduate of G.A.R. Memorial High School, Wilkes-Barre, and worked as a seamstress in the area garment industry. She was a member of Our Lady of Hope Parish, Wilkes-Barre.

Tessie was an avid Penn State Football fan. She enjoyed reading Country and Western books, cooking for her family, and listening to country music and her favorite singer, Elvis Presley.

She was preceded in death by her brothers, Donald, Charles, and David Hando; and sisters, Justine Mazewski, Arlene Figel, Antoinette Starzecki, Patricia Trapanese, and Lenore Lloyd.

Surviving is her husband of 61 years, John Stackonis Sr.; sons, John Stackonis Jr. of Wilkes-Barre, Daniel Stackonis and his wife, Lara of Albuquerque, NM, and Clifford Stackonis of Barto, PA; grandchildren, Christopher Stackonis and his wife, Meredith of Albuquerque, NM, Devon Stackonis of Madison, WI, and Marley Stackonis of Tuscon, AZ; brothers, Anthony Hando of Wilkes-Barre, and Dennis Hando and his wife, Linda of Harding, PA; sisters, Paulette Reilly and her husband, Bruce of Wilkes-Barre, and Donna Davis and her husband, Bruce of Plains, PA; and several nieces and nephews.

Private funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family by the Jendrzejewski Funeral Home, Wilkes-Barre.
