Ralph Joseph Jachimiak

Ralph Joseph Jachimiak, better known as “Poppy”, of Wilkes-Barre, passed away Tuesday, May 3, 2022, at Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center.


Born December 22, 1931, in Wilkes-Barre, he was a son of the late Alexander and Anna Laskowski Jachimiak.


Ralph was a 1949 graduate of G.A.R. High School, Wilkes-Barre. He was a Navy Veteran of the Korean War, and was employed for many years as a Wilkes-Barre City Fireman.


He was an avid bowler, enjoyed watching sports, especially his beloved Chicago Bears, and spending time with his family. 


He was preceded in death by his wife, Irene Solomon Jachimiak in 2016; his brother, Alexander "OL" Jachimiak; and his sister, Theresa Yachimiak.


Surviving are his son, Ralph Jachimiak and his wife, Kelly of Wilkes-Barre; grandchildren, Jenna and Jacob Jachimiak; sister, Regina Korba of Hanover Township; and several nieces and nephews.


Funeral services will be held Monday at 12:00pm at the Jendrzejewski Funeral Home, 21 North Meade Street, Wilkes-Barre. The Reverend Mark DeCelles, Our Lady of Fatima Parish, will be officiating. Interment with Military Honors will follow in St. Mary's Antiochian Cemetery, Hanover Township. Friends may call Monday morning at the funeral home from 11:00am until time of services.
