Andrew Joseph Shubilla Sr.

Andrew Joseph Shubilla Sr., AKA: Lefty and Uncle Andy from Wilkes-Barre went to heaven on roller skates on Wednesday, October 11, 2023. Born November 29, 1934, in Wilkes-Barre Township, he was the son of the late Peter and Dorothy (Lesnick) Przybyla.

Andrew was a 1951 graduate of Wilkes-Barre Township High School, where he was an outstanding athlete, with his favorite being baseball, which he taught his five granddaughters to play and never missed one of their games. Andrew enlisted in the United States Navy after graduating high school. He was stationed on the U.S.S. Intrepid.

He was preceded in death by his wife, the former Lorraine Sweeney in 2017; brothers, Jason, Peter, Jacob, Edmond, Jack, Henry, and Bernard; and sisters, Harriet and Theresa.

Surviving are his children, Michele Kosisky and her husband, John; Drew Shubilla; and Keith Shubilla and his wife, Allison all of Wilkes-Barre; granddaughters, Jenny and Terri Shubilla, and Erin, Nicole, and Keri Kosisky; great grandson, Christian; sister, Antoinette Hendrzak; and nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday at 11:00am at Our Lady of Hope Parish, 40 Park Avenue Wilkes-Barre, PA 18702. The Reverend Brian Joseph Clarke will be Celebrant. Interment with Military Honors will follow in St. Mary's Maternity Cemetery, West Wyoming. Family and friends will be received at the church from 10:00am until time of Mass.
